Three day?s after the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) results were published, it was revealed today that a girl form Siddhartha Higher Secondary School, a private school in Kavre, also scored the same marks as Subha Acharya of Katmandu?s Galaxy Public School who stood first among the girls.

Urmila Khulal whose name disappeared from the list of SLC toppers published by the Exam Controller?s Office, scored 90 percent (720 marks), sharing the ?top SLC girl? position with Subha Acharya, according to Gyan Bahadur K.C, the principal of the Banepa-based school.

KC told Nepalnews that the school lodged a complaint at the controller?s office today, for not declaring Urmila as another SLC topper among the girls.

?Exam controller Birendra Kumar Singh admitted the wrong on the part of his office. He cited technical error behind the missing of her name in the toppers? list,? principal KC said after registering the complaint. ?The controller has assured to declare Urmila as another topper among the girls after discussing the matter with the secretary of the Ministry of Education and Sports,? KC added.

Exam controller Singh has been repeatedly caught on wrong foot as he went on records, two days before the SLC results were published, saying that the results would be delayed by two weeks. Reports had also said that he was among the officials who made a failed attempt to cutoff the private media from information about the SLC results.

As usual, the SLC board topper Sameer Shreshta of Kavre High School, who scored 91.37 percent, and Galaxy?s Subha Acharya caught extensive media attention and enjoyed huge public accolade.

With this revelation, Kavre district boasts two SLC toppers in this year?s SLC exams.

Established 22 years ago, Siddhartha Higher Secondary School is the first private school in Kavre. The school that has a total of 800 students including 200 higher secondary students had all its 41 SLC examinees passed in first division this year. The school also boasts one SLC board topper, in 2054 B.S. Dude u should blame the ppl who publish the results. I dunno much about Galaxy School but I sure do respect its principal Geeta Rana. How many ppl r there in Nepal who have achieved fame and fortune in that short a time, all the while serving the country.

I didn't said principal of galaxy is not great as you mentioned. neither i know her personally nor academically. and i don't know what she has contriuted..to the education in nepal especailly in the remote places. if i don't know, u can let me know. AND i didn't said, she did it...there are so many people beside her ...

I only know about her is that she opened another association of footballer and tussle with Ganesh Thapa (ANFA). Later on she had to give that up because she was not been recognised by international bodies and blamed to ruin footballers future.

And yes, having affair with student was the other one.

I know Geeta Rana personally. NO she is NOT related to me.

Lemme tell u a story:
There was a man with a family and was running a successful school. He brought/married another lady and lived with her without a care for his wife and children. His wife had a big heart that she gave her "sauta" a job in her office. One has to be a saint to do that. She treated her sauta's daughter like her own. That wasn't enough for the husband and he moved out of the school. Finally the first wife had enough or maybe she fell in lop with her student. I see nothing wrong with that. If a guy does that its ok, if a girl does it, we bitch about it, fk all that.

As u can see, I am a big fan of Geeta Rana. Mrs. Rana if i ever be half as successful as u, I will consider myself BLESSED.

Sweetheart I thought you are a sweet girl but I dont know where you got brainwashed with the thought of Mrs Rana. Your comments on her are, in best of words, hilarious. Does anyone remember how Geeta Rana bribed to have Garima Rana top the SLC ? History repeats itself. it's nothing new with the Ranas in Nepal. They want their asses covered at all cost.
Is it fair to a lower class student from Kavre like Urmila? Absolutely not.

I agree Ms. Rana is a strong personality. However whole SLC sys is flawed. Lotta shit goes on and Galaxy is very poular for its part. Its been that for ever. The tussle Ganesh Thapa and Geeta Rana is very popular.

Ok, I am just wanna say is SLC system and edu. sys in Nepal needs lotta change. Ths sys is not fair for all the students.

I should add that I Know Geeta Rana very personally too and I'd like her a whole lot better if she only stopped being so arrogant and keep exploiting the educational systems in Nepal.

why does the idea of 'Power' drive people lke her insane........after all she was a good natured Burmese refugee who had nothing and was getting everything she dreamt of.

i appreciate the quality of education she has in galaxy but then there are others who have done better with private schools and never seek such limelight as her. she seems so vacant inside that she is looking for that extra 'recognition' to boost her -shall i say - alterego?

Geeta Rana became Rana after she got married, she was a Thapa before. Don't ask me what kinda Thapa now. About bribing and making Garima come board first, we have no proof. So all we can do meanwhile is guess and gossip. Like highfly said, the whole educational sector needs lotta change.

I will continue defending Geeta Rana coz like i said before I respect her a lot.

Why is it that everytime someone from Galaxy public school tops SLC board ,it has to be a case of bribery ?

LadyBug how can you say Mrs Geeta Rana bribed for Garima Rana ?what proof you have ??I am concerned here 'cause she was a brilliant student .I would be surprised if you actually proved to me that Mrs Geeta Rana had to bribe to make Garima Rana Board first.

I just think its a blunder mistake of Sano thimi and nothing more than that.

They will correct it for sure ...if not we can always blame the system and this issue shall cool down withing next month.

The case might be just a mistake of Sano Thimi. However, the system is flawed. Living with the sys is no solution. The sys has beeb abused. This is not a fair system. Going back and changing sys, need to be big shot. else can be nit picky and ponit out the flaws and take out frustation.

Hey I survived the flawed system. Some flaws I wanna point out:

1. the edu level in and + 2 or intermediate- high variance in level of difficulty

2. the whole system - never know how u did. U might fail although u did very well

I googled gita rana and found out that the lady started her school, Galaxy, with 9 students and 2 teachers in 1986, and now after 19 years the school boasts of 4000 students and 500 teachers. very inspirational.

Pade Q - thats not any more inspirational than any other person who opened a school in those days in ktm.....just do some research for some other 'good' schools too. my problem with her is her desire to compromise her integrity at any cost. nothing more or less.

Can a person with er "indecent behavior" come board first in SLC, SURE they can. What is the correlation between displaying indecent behavior and being good in studies? I know none so someone enlighten me. Look at Bill Clinton, who sure did display "indecent behavior" and if he were to run for President ever in the future, he will no doubt win.
