Best things in life are FREE. A mother's love. A lover's embrace. Clean, crisp air in the Annapurna region. And Sajha.com That is why, as you do for your public radio stations, community museums, public libraries, and other non-profit entities that add to the quality of your life, why not take a moment to add Sajha to your "must give presents to in this festive season this year" list? Give what you think is reasonable. Give from the heart. Give on your own -- any amount will do, yes, any amount. Give liberally. Give for the continuous upkeep and betterment of Sajha's IT-related infrastruture. Give to get enjoyment. Give as a member of this community. Give. Here's a message from the Web Master -- San -- that I think is worth amplifying: **** "Where else do you find FREE Nepal related entertainment and information like in sajha? As you can imagine, there are costs associated with maintaining a site as big as this. Be it in bringing state of the art chat servers or be it in granting access to high speed internet connection with the most upto date servers to keep your sajha experience fast, fun and continuous, sajha has always been there 24/7. I have been informed that because of steep bandwidth consumption, the cost of hosting sajha is going to be higher than before. Would you like to make a little contribution to show your support for the site and to ensure that the site is able to continue its services to provide you with a sajha cyber chautari where you can discuss, learn and enjoy at any time? If you spend a lot of time in sajha, and if sajha has provided you entertainment and valuable information, then now is the time to show your support to sajha. - http://www.sajha.com/sajha/html/openthread3.cfm **************** Best things in life are free. Your generosity will help make Sajha free for you, your friends and thousands more Nepalis who have yet to discover it in months and years ahead. Thank you. oohi "no, I am just a contributor like you" ashu

To San Dai: could you generate a scope document to make it public. Umm something like what do you anticipate in terms of traffic increase? What are the choking points? What DB uplift you need to address? What is the face-life needed on web-interface side of stuff? Server side details? Growth options in the near and long-term future? And above all what are the dollar numbers anticipated to meet the needs? Uhi Rajeev, VA, Amrika

Dear San and Ashu, I have contributed a modicum amount in my capacity as a student and am wondering if it makes any difference, but I am urging my fellow students, both nepalese and non nepalese to help augment sajha. If you could predict a goal amount needed to upgrade sajha and keep us updated, we could endeavor more. Anything for sajha, John

Thanks all for your goodwill towards sajha.com The host that we've had for almost 2 years decided to charge $150 a month because sajha is using a lot of bandwidth. With that the yearly cost becomes $1800. I am currently seeking alternate options, but sajha being a very dynamic and large site, it requires a host that supports all of it's programming and database needs. Right now I am checking out a few options and hopefully will be able to find the best possible option. For all the contributors, thank you so much for your contribution to sajha. It is the support of sajha visitors that makes it all possible, and worthwhile. Sajha has been in service for nearly 5 years now and thanks to supporters like yourself, it has grown tremendously. Lot of times we take for granted things that are freely available. It takes a special kind of compassion to step up to the plate and make a contribution like you have made and I thank you for your kindness, and your acknowledgement of the effort that goes on to make sajha possible. Best wishes, San

Hey people!! I think sajha.com is a great community. We all have been coming in from time to time to check whats happening. Though there might be some misunderstanding and some heated discussions I think th at it is a great site that all of us can enjoy. If donating just a little amount can keep this community functioning and alive.. then why not contribute?? So let us all contribute to Sajha.com as we are all a part of it. :) Rythm!!

Hi, Good job.. Is it only hosting fee that is creating a financial problem? What about those 7-8 ads on sajha including google ads? Is that not helping to cover the hosting expense (if that is the only fee you are concerned).. Any other fees? Please let us know...

Yes, there is one thing worse that asking for money. That is, giving money . . . to a community activity, where everyone has a right to be unsure about what PRIVATE benefit s/he will derive by giving money to this sort of public, for-free Web site, with so many free-riders around. But give anyway. Give generously. Since Sajha is doing this end-of-the-year fundraising mini campaign, let's help it out in its time of need. Come, you democrats, monarchists, traditionalists, radicals, republicans, anarchists, capitalists, communists, conservatives, hedonists, atheists, narcissists, and [your preferered lables here] Give liberally . . . this holiday season to Sajha.com oohi "no, I don't get a single dime for this public service announcement -- not that I should!" ashu

No offence taken, lady-in-red, especially from a lady not seeing red, yet. No offence taken at all. We are all busy people!. That is why, we can use extra-reminders now and then. I know, I need tons of reminders to get anything done!! :-( That is why, just reminding genereous folks out there to throw their ek nazar at this thread and do what they can in this festive season. As they say, give early and give often and give what you can to Sajha.com Tetti ho. oohi ashu
