Sudesna with her 'A Million dollors smile !'
Many girls who study nursing in Nepal dream of good life in the West especially in the UK and the USA. Suedesna ( name changed!) is one of them who has dreams and expectations of life being a practioner nurse in UK.

Sudesna one of the youngest and preetiest girl in her 20's flew to UK 6/7 months ago along with 50/60 girls who have same sort of dreams 'to have a good life in the UK'.

At the beginning, Sudesna faced many problems in the UK. As her parents have spent a good amount of Money to send her UK. Some of the Agents who have very little knowledge and experiences in the related fields falsified people in sake of earning money. Real Dreams and Versatile Agency are some examples of them.

These agents having any good knowledge, capacity neither good contacts in the related fields could help nothing but provide a terrible mental problems of their life times. Sudesna has almost spent 5 laksh rupees for her staff nursing courses through the agents. Sudesna does not know where her college is, when her placement would start. These guys neither pick up the phones nor responses well; that only made her remained in frustrations and depression. She had to look herself some sort of caring homes job to sustain herself.
One does not have to pay any Money to get placements and adapation courses UK. If you are approved from NMC you can find out Nursing Homes or NHS hospitals yourself, they will offer Placements and training, finally even offer job according to your performances. Some of these nepalese agents are just trying to make busienss through private agents who have contact in NHS and getting big amount of money form the innocent Nepalese.

After a six month turmoil and many difficulties, Sudesna has finally got her Placement in NHS. She is determined to work hard and to be a Staff Nurse in UK.


These nurses who came to UK, have to face many difficuties. In fact, they got cultural shocked at the beginning, they were not trained and provided enough informations about the systems and legality. They were not aware of any rules and rights of theirs. most of the nurses got difficulties working in the Hospital. They were treated well, matter of facts, Nepalese nurses have the good skills of jobs and knowledge of Englsih Languge but it won't be recognised well at the beginning as a result they have to bear many harasemnt, bullying and metnal problems.

As a whole nurisng students have a good career in London. Once you completed your training course and achieve a Qualified Nurses Status, one can earn at 25 to 30 thousands pounds a year with a good facilities.

Nursing Profession is a good opportunity for the foregin income of the national economy of our country. There is not anybody or Governemnt Organisation to look for it. It must be made systematic and well organised. It would be easier and far better for many to settle and work in the UK.

Because of lack of proper training and information before coming to UK or USA people have to face lots of pressure untill they get to learn bythemsleves. In some cases, it understimates the quality and status of Nepalese people around the world.

लगानि गर्नु भएको छ एक दिन रिट्रन आउछ हरेस नखानुस अगाडि बढनु नै तपाइ को एक मात्र बिकल्प हो ।बिबाह भएको श्रीमान ले सबै गर्दैनन एजेन्ट ले गर्ने त कुरानै आउदैन त्यसैले त्यो सबै आफु एकटिभ भएर ग्रनु पर्छ , र यो देस मा एकटिभ हुनु सकिदैन जस्तो लाग्छ भने अहिले नै टिकट किने हुन्छ भन्छु म त ।

Contacting and receiving advise from British Council in Kathmandu could solve lots of problems seen in Sudesna's case. They have committed people to help you choose college and courses and give you related info.

Agents have really earned bad name in Nepal be in in manpower or studies.

Most of the young generations in Nepal are trying to get abroad in term of good life. Every year, thousands of skilled and telant students are leaving Nepal. It's been a trend to leave the country no matter what ever means.

Well, no matter some good background and educated students been to US,UK, Canada, Austriala, etc ... It is strange to tell you that an MA graduate nepali gets lost in Melbrone City, Boston or in London city.... Every body gets lost in the west for a year or so to get his/her track back. Many gets ended up working in a restaurants and take away shop . I think it is becase of lack of informations and knowledge about the west world in Nepal.

Thousand of Nepali were killed in different countries because of no reasons, Especially in the Arabains country. The 12 Neplease would have such Faith if there had a good sysematic body and authority in Nepal that trained and got people informed well about the jobs, places they are heading for ....
One of the worst examples of the unwareness was of last years incident in US ..drink/drive or so ....

Especially, Neplease girls who are mild, naturally shy and innocent get their life challenging in the west. In some cases, they will get victimised by Nepali too. In fact, I am intending to express the real dfficulties facing by Nepalese people all over the world .
When there is no good opportunity in the country, it is normal to think about abroad for anybody, but to get a harsh time in the foreign land is another matter !

It would be better for the people and the country if there would be some thoguht regarding this buring problems !

Well, I do not mean to say 'it's not good to work in Restaurants, or Take away' or in Motel. As you mentioned, like the Brother you are talking about would have done far better than what's he doing now if he had good information and Knowledge ... the way life goes in West. Finally, he had to struggle himself to understand/respcet for works, that would be the reason he could not achive as he would achieve lots more form his skills and ability .............
