Two days ago, i was on my night shift at my workplace hamrai GS. One Nepali brother(dv holder) ..i know this guy little much as he used to come to my store from time to time. That night the store wasnt so busy and he was waiting for someone ( showing as if he is talkin on cell)...and also started chating with me....he asked me "how much do u get here" ..frankly i said ,,8..in cash....He started now his words...I m also manager In THIS THIS GS....another dhoti is also calling to handle another store ...but I ignored ..how much he gonna give me?...i work in casino too ...i make good tips jus today...i made 200....his english was ,,shit ...he was trying to speak english as if he was born here...also started singin some lattu hiphop song i didn't knew what he was singin (i think to show he can sing and listen to english songs haha)..."he asked me do u listen this ?...hehe he was asking me abt music ,,,i said no i don't listen hiphop jus rock.......He again asked me :if i hab phone card for nepal? i said yes...where u wanna call kathmandu (generally kathmandu comes from my mouth)...i asked so...BUt...he was little worried to say im from Terai...I was amazed why he slipped on this to say..I am from Terai....his dress up was really ...pakhe style...he had colored his hair yellow..TUP at his ears...haha...sounds and looks so funny......i was thinkin myself " kasto kasto manche lai dv parne rahecha"...

dont rush too fast to judge someone :)

DV is a lottery program.  anyone can get this lottery.  it does not select people based on colour of skin, his/her style or communication skill in english for that matter. 

i also know people, not only DV winners, try to be westernized once they land here in usa.  but i guess its all up to them.  let them do what they want to do.  what i would do is, if i would not like someone's personality or something, i would just try to not be in touch with those people.  simple.

ye u r right!!...i wish ... the dv winners will be those...who hab good education(whose wish is to get some more high education in states as well as work not only (ghanta hanne))...so that he can utilize his much more to him/her and their parents tooo....

Atomic some people are dumb. So euta case dekhera generalize garna mildaina. I think we should show the way how they can rise above than ghanta hanni rather then just making comments against them. And again we have to be thankful to DV program as it has given opportunity for low academic people to come to US. As you wished I have done the same thing, I also came thro dv some 10 months back and I joined Dhoti consultancy I got the training and I ran away from them and I searched job myself. Now I am working for state Government as an IT consltant.

Did u ask what's his position in Casino, just for Curiosity....coz i already had same kind of experience little ago. the guy who i met started talking to me about difficulties for Nepali student and advantage for DV holder...i just kept listening to him and he started comparing Cars and living style yea he was one stupid assshole .....i totally agree with atomics view...and i am not trying to say all DV holder are like that but most of them i dont know why even though they were cool and nice when they were in nepal...but they gain some kind of attitude when they get here..thats true

You cannot judge anyone on thier pakhe pan. I knew a couple who came from a village in Nepal. They hadn't seen the world, but i think knew all the ways of survival. Here we were trying to get an on campus job going thru all the rules and regulations, and there he was inviting all the big ppl of the univercity to his small apt and without any exams he got a job for himself. The wife too joined the community church and began learning english and she had made so many friends who all helped out in their survival.

Now they are living a very good life compared to us "who believe are more educated than them, or much advanced than them". Initially we use to laugh at their pakhe pan too, but now... i think we are more pakhe than anyone else :)

Its just that we get so jealous at other's success that anything they say or do hits us right on our hearts.Maybe if we got DV's too people would be thinking we are showing off...
