No offense to Mr. Giri but he had screwed up an asylum case for which he had charged $1,000. The case had been rejected twice before the client retained us. His case was approved right after a month we started working on the file. Compiling 500 page articles from internet doesn't help the case. No good attorney will do an immigration asylum case for less than $5,000 (which we charged). Always look for an immigration litigation attorney if you are filing for asylum. The consequences of denial and referral to Immigration Court will eventually be handled by a litigation attorney, if it happens.
PS: Those people who did not do their undergrad from here are worst lawyers. Wish they knew how to build a case in 'ENGLISH".

i don't know why would someone go do asyum, it'ss much easier to get it done through eb1 when you have a phd or eb2 if you have a job. if your education is not strong then you're doomed to do menal jobs anyway . Aslyum is stressful from day 1, interview then if referred to immi court , more lawyers and more money. then they will hold you on your green card , taking more than normal time to approve greencards, stress there. when you have green card your gc # starts with ASto 6, AS7, so when you try to come back to usa the IO at the port of entry harasses you. just a head ache, immi always look at you like you are a theif and the bad thing is when you're an asylee you're no longer a citizen of Nepal, because u can't use Nepali or cop passport or go toake any other country's protection. do you want to give up everything hoping things will eventuall turn around?

yehi maukama euta kura sodhna mann lagyo.
i'm an undergraduate right now, and will be doing MD/PhD after that. Getting a GC should not be a problem for me after I get my MD/PhD. My question is will it affect my going back and forth to Nepal? I really want to go back home and work with the education I get here but the problem is there is nothing I can do back home as of now. I mean, I'm into cancer research which is basically at state "zero" in Nepal. Let's hope that there will be opportunities and facilities for the kind of research I do here in Nepal in maybe next 15-20 years. Will having a GC/PR affect my ability to work wherever I want? Are there any restrictions from the governments (both)? I'm not talking about dual citizenship issues like some NRN's who are lobbying politicians for dual citizenship because I won't take US citizenship although I get offered one.

DrKanchho,
You should choose your field carefully. If you do cancer research, and think that it has no future in Nepal, you should be mentally prepared to work here, rather than letting us know " there is possibility of work in Nepal" type nonsense. This is what I hear from many students. " Oh, I work in nuclear energy sector, and though I would like to go to Nepal, there is no scope of it", or "I do research in fauna of Antarctica and I don't think there is a job for me in Nepal for this."
Nepal has mostly first generation educated people. Either you go home, and set a foundation for whatever you want to do, or just stay here. No one is going to miss you there, except for your own family members.
To those others, if you want to live in Nepal, study carefully. There is always a good demand for engineers(especially useful ones), doctors, economists, sociologists, lawyers, singers, etc. etc. Or just stay here, and try to be competitive here.

Regarding lawyers, well, it seems our lawyers in california are now running away from their hometown, avoiding phone calls, afraid for their life. This has come after writing fake stories for thousands, and making thousands of dollars in 'asylum money'.
It is clear that preparing a fake documents has its cost. But , as a friend of mine in california says, almost everybody he sees has greencard via asylum. Even those with DV filed asylum.

thanks for your comment. if nothing comes up on it's own, I won't hesitate to try my luck laying the foundation.
about choosing subject of study, i already did! i'm a senior and have 3 papers on hand to publish. no way i'm going to think for a second about choosing a different career. not just because i'm good at it or almost done with undergrad schooling, but because this is what i love doing. and cancer research is not like studying fauna in Antarctica or Mars; it can be done anywhere given that we have facilities.
but you still didn't answer my question, thanks anyways. hope someone with more idea on this field of GC/PR thing will answer it.

You are Generalizing by using the word "Any". There are some genuine cases. ONLY SOME. It was back in the days. Like I said, only dumb head law school students pactice immigration law.

I am sure there are lots of genuine Nepali asylees too. after all 13 k people died in 1o years of bloody civil war and now those murderers are in power and they are not very forgiving people. please do not say all are crooks. I am sure there are lots of real ones but i hate it when i see middle aged govt officer or former RNAC employee come here with bribed money and file asylum and then they go to Nepal bring their black money as gift and open a gas stations here. what's happenning in cali? is it still easy to get your asylum approved or things have changed lately?
