Mark my word, Prachanda will be assassinated by none other than his own Maoist party cadres. From his recent comments about his party's ideology being nothing similar to that of chairman Mao or Lenin, it is clear that he is nothing but a power hungry SOB. I am sure it was and is starting to be realized within his own party as well. That is probably why Baburam wanted out few months ago and hey whatever happened to the main military logistic brain behind the PLA, comrade Badal??? Prachanda probably feared a coup against him from his own party and that is why he decided to go public. If not for the fear and power greed there is no way he would come out public under these circumstances considering monarchy and SPA were in a total destruction mode and would have finished each other off leaving only other alternative as the Maoist and giving them the most easy access towards their goal. However, opportunist such as Prachanda and others have used this moment to get their share of the power chair and an easy way out (because underground jungle life is fun for only so much... I guess), but what they have failed the realize is that the guns they gave and the brains they washed to have young mind be totally manipulated for their fake and worthless ideology will come down hunting for their own heads one day if they didn't lived up to the promises.

After all this has taken place, Nepal will either be part of India or will be ruled by military generals like in Pakistan and many other African countries. I mean what other alternative will be left?? Don't see any....enlighten me know if you do.

I am neither dumb nor blind. instead, you seemed to be since you are not able to catch up with the demand of time. It is definitely true that so many people had to die due to Prachanda's policies/strategies/movement, but we are at the verge of getting peace again and we can't afford any more violence and lives.

and, at this particular time, i don't see any pro-monarchican or pro-parliamentarian leader having that much vision who can take the country out of this hell. Prachanda seems to be the only left who can take the country out of the continum of violence. and what i believe is that we should not discourage him and send him back to the jungle again. instead we can convince him the potentiality of democracy, in place of communism, in solving the problems that people are facing.

For the sake of saving more lives, sometimes you need to compromise. You can see, in the neighboring country, Kasmiri groups are fighting to get seperated from India. But, Indian government had to release those separatists from prison (which is a kind of reward in your words) in Air India Hijacking.

finally, suppose Maoists already took life of a member of your family and will take another life from your family if you don't compromise with them, since you can not stop them from other means. In this situation, do you still insist bringing the murderer to the court of justice or compromise with him to save another life?????????? I think it's better to compromise since you can save your kin's life and also punish the murderer by other means after the game of violence ends. Choice is yours!!!

I am a firm supporter of democracy, but I am aware of the fact that communism is working in China. It might be foolhardy to say that communism might not work in Nepal, but it would be completely reasonable to say that communism will not work, at least if the ruler is prachanda. Dude, I have seen his interview, and I have heard him call his opposition leaders with their names. Prachanda nor the maoists have ANY record of how much weapons they have and with who....So, Prachanda nor any individual has full control over maoist's PLA and as I've mention above whatever happen to their main man Badal? It sounds nice to be optimistic and all but what Prachanda and other optimist are failing to realize is that once you have a taste of POWER CHAIR and GUN POWER, you will not want to let go of them without a bloody fight. We have already seen a bloody war for power chair now we will see people who have had gun power in the past will do whatever they can even at an expense of human lives. It was way way way too easy for most maoists to make a living with the help of their gun power and no way it is as easy to construct as it is to destruct.

Just look at countries and places around the world where armed revolutions have took place and tell me if peace have prevailed? Great leaders of the world such as Nelson Mendela, Martin Luther King Jr., and Nelson Mandela who were able to bring dynamic changes for their country didn't choose peaceful way because they were less competent than Prachanda. They knew any sort armed revolt would spill over and there would never be peace even if they wanted to.

Maoist’s economic policy …

As the air of suspicion regarding the Maoists' economic policy prevails in the business/industry sector, a senior Maoist leader and member of the Maoist talks team has said the Maoists would not go for blanket nationalisation of big industries and that they have no problem with liberal economic policies while the main focus will be on revolutionary land reform and promotion of small industries.

“The only way to economic transformation of society is through an industrialised economy. The industry sector was not allowed to grow in the past,” Gurung said in an interview with Aajako Abhiyan weekly, adding, “The policies in the past lapped up foreign multi-national companies and allowed them to capture the market, take away cheap raw materials and then market their products here. This should not happen now.”

Further elaborating the Maoist economic policy, Gurung said his party was in favour of internal competition between national capital, major industries and cottage industries as domestic capital cannot compete with foreign capital and domestic industries cannot compete with multinationals and same goes with small industries and big national industries in terms of competition should there be no control. He said small industries need protection.

“We are not saying we don’t want multinational companies or to prevent them from investing here. We have to see where they want to invest and under what conditions. If it is in the national interest only then we should allow them in,” the rebel leader said and added that the Maoists were not in favour of servile capitalist ventures or foreign ‘broker capitalism’.

The Maoists, he said, would encourage a self-reliant domestic economy by using local resources and would be ready to encourage and assist the mercantilist class and industrialists.

The economic policies of the CPN (Maoist) will be based on the 75-point program passed by the party a few years back which stressed on radical land reform, nationalisation of land owned by trusts and servile capitalists – without any compensation – and the state’s control on forests, major rivers, lakes and mines and trade of essential goods as well as foreign trade, among others.

The 75-point program ratified at the meeting the United Revolutionary People’s Council, the administrative body of the Maoists, also pledged to make the industry sector the mainstay of the economy and sideline the brokers and servile capitalists from the industry sector, promote small industries and ensure the involvement of labourers in the management of industries.

Gurung explained that the revolutionary land reform would be focussed on Terai where most of the cultivable land is owned by Shahs and Ranas. He said the land would go to the tillers but the landlords will be allowed to keep up to 10 bighas of land for their upkeep, as “they are also Nepali citizens”.

The World Trade Organisation (WTO) provisions, he said, are not in favour of smaller economies and the interest of the poor nations should get more priority in the global trade body.

Meanwhile, in another interview with Rajdhani daily, Gurung said the Maoists are not going with the policy of nationalising the industries and that his party would adopt liberal economic policy. However, there will be provisions regarding protection in some areas.

According to Gurung, the state should not promote industries like alcohol, tobacco and coca cola that are not in the best interest of the society and the state should adopt policies to control such industries and such investment should be channelled to productive sector.

“We are not saying that liberal policy means total freedom; there should be some limitations. The Nepalese industry sector, market and the capital is very backward,” he maintained. “It is disproportionate at present and it should be open and competitive with some protection policies.”

Saying that Nepal’s agro-based industries have not flourished, Gurung pointed out the foreign monopoly in the Nepalese market. “The national capital is squeezed because of the monopoly of foreign capital.” nepalnews.com mk June 24 06

I agree. Some of the points seem very logical and indeed may help in the betterment of the country. But making principles isn't the hardest thing on earth. The actual test of a person's leadership comes while implementing those. Take for example, the "Pancha Barshe Yojana". Isn't that so luring?? But did the implementation of "pancha barshe yojana" went as expected? People change when they get power and I won't doubt if a person who uses violence to voice out his opinion changes for lure of power.

This is true. Prachanda keeps on saying this, i mean ONLY keeps on saying this. Has he ever asked me, or any other nepalese if they really want his "Prachanda path"? Actions speak louder than words my friend. If Prachanda gives a public speech asking all the Nepalese to decide their fate and tell them that he would stop his "Kranti" if Nepalese decide they don't want his doctrines, I would say that he is a follower of democracy. Or, if he asks Nepalese people for a referendum and if he wins without any sort of violence, I would respectfully accept him as the next leader of nepal. But until now, I have only seen that side of Prachanda who is adamant with his principles and just saying democracy for the sake of democracy. Sorry my friend, if he wants Nepalese people support, he should learn to put his words into actions. You don't need to be the president of the country to make reforms in the country. True leaders can show the country and the world, what they can do without taking any leadership positions. If not, they are nothing but the famished tigers in the forests looking for power.

Leaders are going to say what they are going to do and it is up to the people to make sure that he/she does that. Gyane also promised number of good things but his every action was opposite to what was said and so people got fed up of him. Now the question is,is Prachanda keeping his words? You are saying he is not but I say he is showing flexibilty and going in the same direction of his words. He is not saying that he will go back to war if Monarchy is not removed, he knows that Girija wants ceromonial monarch but he is still cooperating with him. He has said in an interview with 'The Hindu' that he won't take any position of power but he will guide younger generation who does. And I am going to hold him to that.

I support him because he has the right cause, he has been flexible, he has vision. My position will change if he goes against his promises.

About the 'Prachanda path,' I think it is just a label for his vision. I don't think he is saying that he wants Nepal to strictly follow 'Prachanda path' while talking to SPA. Of course, he will promote his vision and SPA has similarly put out their vision too.

1) Maoists are terrorists. So yes, more terrorists will be killed and less of the army. This is happens between a war of Good and evil all over the world, doesn't it?

2) King and RNA didn't deploy army much. It was the SPAM goverment who deployed the army when it was in power.

3) When King was in power, more of RNA people were killed and abducted by Maoists even though they were on so called cease fire. I already have provided figures regarding all deaths.
