Holding bachelors degree does mean any thing solely depends on individual.

I am guessing you have bachelors’ degree and wanted to bar others. He or she may have broken English, mostly those did not have opportunity to go to privet school, like you did but were lucky to win DV. You never know, they may outsmart you once they have the opportunity. Let's not judge all people because you encounter with one.

I do not have any grudge for DV wala haru sanga...   and not being judgemental...

This DV guy came... and i would say he came in a wrong place thinking that he would be helped. But, because of age difference, there was always tensions among the guys with regard to this new DV guy. He was a show after he gets drunk.. well everybody has some pitfalls.. Guys should have ignored those things. But, He became the Talk of the Town person in a sense, people started pulling his leg for every little incident and his every little ignorance (common guys, what you expect from someone who just arrived here from nepal few days ago and who has never traveled any other countries but india). I kind of ignored him in a sense that it was none of my business kind of thing. Bhanincha ni.. hagne lai bhanda dekhne lai laaj.. it was too much later. I called this guy when i was by myself..   we talk and talk.. and came to realize that this man was in so much pain..  Sometimes we do mistakes when we do not try to build bridges between people and build walls instead. Lets not elongate the story.. he is one fine fellow.. even though he failed few classes in schools... and he works his ass off to make money.. Who cares about those things?? he is a fantastic guy..  and has good grades in the journey of life school. Now, he is a guy i think of the first whenever i am in trouble.

Another incident happened when i was introduced to this another DV bro in one nepali party. You know the very first question he asked me was " Tapai ka kaam garnu huncha?" i replied . Another questions " Tapai student hoina ra? Tesari kaam garna paicha? Illegal hoina ra?" (not a good question to ask in first meetings.. ali ghanistata bhaye pachi tesari ekant ma soddhha ta nobody would have been offended ni hoina ra?)... This time i could not believe my ears for few seconds.. ... Then replied... "dai, sabai tapai jasto bhagyamani hunnan ni..  marne bachne isthiti aye pachi legal/illegal le kei farak pardaina.. Malai ta sodhnu bho dai.. tara aru lai yo question nasodhnu hola.." and then  i realized probably this man had not found any job then.. and might be thinking that all illegal workers (like F1 nepali students) occupied the jobs .. thats the reason he was not able to find a job and contrary to it, all illegal students had jobs. ... More funny thing, He had asked exactly the same question to few more people before he finally asked it to me. ... thats what my other friends told me...

I just try to enjoy the things out of it... santan thari thari ka hunchan ni bro...  sabai lai autai taraju ma rakhna mildaina...  But, its good to give hints about things that are not considered acceptable...   so that they wont repeat it. Imagine, they come here high.. and when reality is different,, they will be in denial state...  hard to accept the fact that there are no money yielding money plants here ..  Uni haru le pani dherai kura sikeka hunnan jo hamile sikyau yaha aayera...  hami pani nepal mai bhako bhaye sayad ti kura haru kaile ni sikne thiyenau hola..

One last one, this DV bro came here with 42K dollars. hahahaha..  but thats personal business how much money he brought from nepal. You dont talk about those things when you meet somebody for the first time. That pissed most of us.. generally students know where there are jobs available and those kind of things because of their connections with others.. its a kind of network. So, everybody was like.. ok nepal ko hune khane raicha...  amrika bujhe pachi buddhi aucha..  . No body helped him finding the job.. not even ride... (not saying that he was not capable of finding the jobs but our friends circle kind of ignored it). We met him after 2 months i guess. he was a one frustrated man by that time... he even broke out completely and cried. Lets not continue the story, main point is that if they do so... its not going to harm us.. its going to harm them in long run.

lets not be judgmental. sometimes they just piss everybody off.. and we also do the same things to them. So the story continues....

Hey Guys!!

One question. So none of you guys have met a DV winner who has good attitude, who doesn't boosts and who doesn't criticizes the student or other status people? Yo ta atti bho yar, everyone hates the DV people. Aba ma kata lukna jau ta saathi ho, ma pani DV winner ho. I am really amazed that so many people hate DV winners. I think I should say myself I am on F1 rather than to say I have GC when I meet fellow Nepali people.

Hey there, all you playa haters,

Grapes are indeed sour huh? I came here on a DV lottery and you have a problem with that?

Wow! what a bunch of losers. Yes, I have a Green Card and you dont, So suck on it Biaaatch.....! You people sound like a stereotypical middleclass nepali with an inferior complex. Le'mme guess, 90% of you DV haters came here on a F1 visa. Parental background is not that economically sound so you could stay in Nepal and be equal to those of Rich Kids. You came here thinking that some day will gather enough money and go back To Nepal to live a life that your dream rich Kids are already living. Life is a sucker ain't it?

Let me give you boys some tips. Remember the day you were in a line at embassy in KTM ,praying God ,getting tika from you parents blessing you for a VISA? That's who you are. You used to think all nepali are brothers and sisters. You came here and suddenly bocame a cosmopolitan? Even you live and study in Kansas. The funny thing is that even students studying in Kansas, Iowa,Texas, Nebraska , Oklahoma call me "Pakhey". I mean dude come on you live in the most pakhey place of the whole world. Cut me some slacks here. Braoden your horizon guys. Believe me guys stay happy and let other people stay happy, you will find this world a better place to live.

JUST TRYING TO KEEP IT REAL GUYS............. JAY NEPAL

Hey solitude, bro yaha sajha ma jasle jasle post gareko chha DV winner or GC holder haru ko barema, they are jealous that they don't have it. They think that they know everything. Being a student and living with other fellow students and sharing ideas and experience, i am sure that they do know something, but that does not mean they know everything. And when they first came from Nepal they were same as the other people they described here, it just so happened that they were students and got in a group of other students where they learned quickly the way of American life from other fellow students. DV parera aayeko haru, most of them, they learn by themselves and most of them do not have a good friend around to show them the way bcoz, other people are only interested in making fun of them, and not helping them, they tend to forget that when they came here for the first time, they were HELPED by other students.
And i have to comment something on Atomic's post that this dude who walked inside his gas station asked for a phone card for nepal (NOT KATHMANDU) but terai, and he had accent when he spoke and was not good in english. So he leveled him a PAKHE.
Grow up dude!! may be he was not lucky like you to go to an english school, and i am sure you too have that accent and you are not so good at english either, Just double check what you've wrote. I am from Terai, and i will never be embarrassed to say that. And after reading your post i am very sure that "Pakhe" word suits you more than me.
So all the nepalese out there, Instead of judging people why can't we work together and help each other.

One more thing. I am not justifying the act of few people that they were right about boasting about their status and money they make. Those people are morons. But we have that kind of people everywhere, even students.
So don't judge all the people based on the action of few.

Solitude,

Brother dont worry about these losers here in this thread. I bet a million dollars that you have better english than that of these morons. These are just pretenders. They just think that they can speak better english. And dont get fooled with those couple of ebonics in the sentence. They write that because that's all they learned after comming here.

Guys please and pleaaase....... dont try to pick up the american accent ,it really sounds funny. Better stick with the Boarding School "darjeelingay" english. You will be better off. Less chances of making mistakes. Atleast try to be yourself. "Powder lagaundaima goro huney haina"

Dear Homer bro. i greatly respect ur feelings and the things which u've said one the above thread is correct. though u also have started something bad to the students...but at the end u've said that "stay happy and let other people stay happy, you will find this world a better place to live." which is absolutely correct. but the way u humiliate student is not gud i guess. bcoz u said that u got DV and many of the students are here on F1. whatever status we have it doesnt matter but the main thing is that we r nepali and thats our identity. we have nothing to do with terai, himal or KTM but our main identity here is nepali...lets take an example if some black nigga tells u that ur the pakhe moron from humla or jumla and at the same time some white americans tells u ur blady nepali than whom will u attack first, definitely the white guy... so bro lets not fight between eactother tellin teraiwala or pahadwala or DV or F1...coz we r nepali and lets be proud for that because either DV wala or F1 wala we r all from the country where we perefer to eat dal, bhat and tarkari rarther and sandwich and burgers, most of us ride a micro bus or safa tempo rather than taxi, we prefer to drink a tea which cost 5 rs rather than drinking a coffee at the restaurant...being honestly we all know our aaukat and haisiyat very well. so lets not pull our legs and stay happy...

I have two schoolmates in the US.. (in Boston, lets be specific)

Rajesh, 4th boy in class, hardworking, intelligent and down to earth. He got US visa in his second attempt. Its been 3 yrs he is there, still in F1 status. He says life sucks, I dont know what really does that mean coz everyone says so. He could not continue study well. He is also not doing that well financially. I was surprised to hear he had changed 4 colleges in 3 years. He says its just like that. He has not been to Nepal after coming there. He is much worried and frustrated, but as i know he is very dilligent and focused, he will definitely do something good. I just met him online last week and he was determined to give 100% to study so he is working very less. Anyway, he says..he is not happy. He has not been able to help backhome financially.

My other friend, Nilakantha who got good second division from our govt school was lucky enough to get DV. He quit his B.Ed. in Tahachal to realise his dream to the US of A. Its been 2 yrs, he is a happy go lucky guy. He has never imagined he would be here. However, he is doing well, he has improved his English remarkably. He earns a big money, he can work as much as he wants. He is taking care of whole family backhome, total of 8 including parents. He helped his brother fly Isarel, his brother quit Police Havaldar job. he called me last time and asked if I know anyone around Budhanilkantha, he said he can spend around 15 lakh RIGHT AWAY for 4 ana jagga...!! My God!! He is also going Nepal soon to get married..aba chhani chhani keti herchhu... bhandai thiyo hahah...Lucky bastard

Gunonepal,

I got pretty emotional. No offense to all the Students. All my good friends came here on F1 visa but long time ago. They are all living happily. I guess this kind of mentality are predominantly on Newcomers of F1 visa. Not all of them but some. I have seen some good kids too that recently came on F1 Visa.

you are right. "nepali ley aafno aukat bhulna hunna"
