Having initiated so many song threads, it’s literally a shame for me to have taken so long to dedicate a thread to this one of a kind living Nepali today.
Quite arguably, he is one of a few persons so many Nepali expatriates can look up to. Having made a name for himself as a singer in the elite Radio Nepal scene, the man could never set a limited horizon for himself. Something inside his heart, I guess, he heard say “Go South, young man”.

Udit Narayan’s crucial first break as a Bollywood playback singer was provided by popular musician Rajesh Roshan for the movie Unees Bees (1980). The rookie was forgotten along with the movie in no time. The next movie he could sing for was Bade Dilwala (1982) to R.D. Burman's music. As he was placed directly neck to neck against heavyweights like Kishor Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar, he could not garner enough credit personally for the hit song. Quite obviously, any promising singer would be over-shadowed by such legends. But with patience and perseverance,
Udit roared back hitting the bull between the eyes with his irresistible number Papa Kehte Hain for the movie Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988) and has never looked back since.

Here is Udit singing jeevan ke din chhote sahee duet with legendary Lata for the movie Bade Dilwala. The song’s noteworthy lyric goes like:

Jeevan Ke Din Chhote Sahi
Hum Bhi Bade Dilwale
Kal Ki Humein Fursat Kahan
Sochen Jo Hum Matwale

Jeevan Ke Din Chhote Sahi
Hum Bhi Bade Dilwale
Kal Ki Humein Fursat Kahan
Sochen Jo Hum Matwale

Jeene Ka Rangeen Mausam
Yeh Khoobsurat Zamana
Jeene Ka Rangeen Mausam
Yeh Khoobsurat Zamana
Apne Yehi Chaar Pal Hain
Aage Hai Kya Kisne Jaana
Jeena Jise Aata Hai Woh
In Mein Hi Mauj Mana Le
Kal Ki Humein Fursat Kahan
Sochen Jo Hum Matwale

Jeevan Ke Din Chhote Sahi
Hum Bhi Bade Dilwale
Kal Ki Humein Fursat Kahan
Sochen Jo Hum Matwale

Yeh Zindagi Dard Bhi Hai
Yeh Zindagi Hai Dava Bhi
Yeh Zindagi Dard Bhi Hai
Yeh Zindagi Hai Dava Bhi
Dil Todna Hi Na Jaane
Jaane Yeh Dil Jodna Bhi
Is Zindagi Ka Shukriya
Sadke Main Uparwale
Kal Ki Humein Fursat Kahan
Sochen Jo Hum Matwale

Kal Ki Humein Fursat Kahan
Sochen Jo Hum Matwale

Jeevan Ke Din Chhote Sahi
Hum Bhi Bade Dilwale
Kal Ki Humein Fursat Kahan
Sochen Jo Hum Matwale
Sochen Jo Hum Matwale

Of course, it would be so incomplete not to include his breakthrough song Papa Kehte Hain though it might sound so much like a cliché. I am very particular to include one that has a prelude to it in the voice of Aamir Khan. The latter’s boyish charm and Udit’s gifted voice form a perfect synergy. ?

This rarely gifted Nepali artist has known no boundaries to entertain music lovers by sharing his one of a kind Godly gift.

Please take a moment to post a song, express a personal opinion, or ponder upon how this man’s success inside and outside Nepal’s periphery is significant to other contemporary industrious Nepalese spread far and wide across the globe. Last but not the least, music, arts, or sports might be the last straw for Nepal as a country to come out of the political crises plaguing our land of eternal peace with such a rich diversity .

Peace all!
:)

Hey dudes! What do you say to those thousands for British and Indian Gurkhaz, who are not even Indian and British citizen and dying for them? They are doing more than their own citizens? They don’t even have to say they are Indian or Brits, more than that they are dying for Indian and Brits. There are huge population of those Gurkhaz near you in Nepal. What do you say to them? . Udit might have been said he is just an Indian, here; those Gurkhaz bros., are dying for them.

Kamana's editor is a millionaire himself. I don't think he needs to ask for any money.Don't forget Kamana Publication House is the first private publication house in big scale in Nepal. Now it is the second largest publication house.

I have read the articles in Kamana too.

The editor never said Udit has a bad voice.

The editor just pointed out that he ditched his first wife.

Both are true.

Udit sings with Anuradha Poudwal for the movie Dil (1990). This one features dance battle between the then reigning Bollywood queen, Madhuri Dixit and upcoming superstar Aamir Khan. The music director was Anand-Milind.

salmanbro,

are you saying that kamana editor is so rich that he doesn't need more money? Now come on. Rich people are even more greedy, bro.

tara I really don't know whether he asked for money or not, but that was the rumor I heard in KTM by other cine-karmis.

and is Udit the only cineactor marrying 2 women in Nepal? Last time I checked, bhuvan kc, shiva shrestha, mausami gurung all were polygamist. Why not target them?

few things before i post my pick:

1) i wouldn't care much about udit as a person long as he sings and sings professionally to win the hearts of millions. to me, udit-a-singer comes before anything about him.

2) from what i heard from my closed friends who got few opportunities to come close to him via few shows that he did for them, he is an extremely professional and a thorough gentleman who takes singing as a pure worship (sadhana) and unlike most of his contemporary singers from india, he does not have an ounce of arrogance over his incredible talent - a trait that only a gifted artist as him possesses.

3) the first song that TM posted had me in splits when i noticed the veteran comedian jagadeep dancing and singing along with pran in the background LOL! :P

okay, coming back to the main purpose of this thread, am posting one of the most soothing and romantic numbers he's sung. check it out and enjoy! :D

honestly, tensing couldn't hide his looks, culture whereas udit could easily assimilate among indians but tensing was well balanced when citizenship issue came up. He did not forget his roots. Also, udit's base is indian fans whereas tensing never needed fans, totally two differerent kind of achievements. But atleast udit owes to Nepal in some form , he's starting point was when radio nepal gave him a break and he continued to reach pinnacle. It's ok to please his fan base, change citizenship, life style but to vomit anything against Nepal or to be ashamed of prior nepali roots would loose my respect. It's like selfish son kicking pure mother's womb for no reason. Who knows otherwise he would be running a blog :-)

Mr Truth, when did he say anything against Nepal? I am just curious.

Yea, Tenzing is well balanced, my ass. He took Indian citizenship. Now I understand why he did, but he did, right? Any Nepali can work in India as long as he wants without giving up citizenship of Nepal, if you don't know, but Tenzing did give up his citizenship. Udit hasn't yet.

I am not saying anything against Tenzing. God bless him, and I am proud of him. But let's face it man, I am also proud of Udit. so, what if he said 'saare jahaa se achchha hindustan hamaaraa?', he probably wanted to please the anchorman, or wanted to please fans, or he probably truly feels Hindustan is a good place which gave so much to him.

Frankly, a lot of Nepali in KTM are jealous of him. They have no stamina to go to India and work hard, do struggle and earn name. So, they bitch against those who succeed in foreign country. If he is a madhesi in India, even better. You guys are the one making our country weak. You are the one who are spitting at our image because of your hatred. If anything, due to Udit, our international image will only shine.

pire , peace bro.I'm proud of him too. I heard lots about him though I will not accept on mere rumors. I meant to say if he had truely said anything against meaning just in case ( or situation when he will loose my respect). rest I agree with you and art has no boundries.

ImI, I've always thought it necessary to honor Udit Narayan as the guy was born in Nepal and deserves every respect from us Nepalis as well as Indians (Respect should be given when due). I totally agree hands down with you here in your previous statement: "ART IS ART PURE FORM ..LET IT BE ART ..DON'T DRAG INTO THE BOUNDARIES OF COUNTRY OR STATE ."

Toliet Breath coffe-face says he agrees with ImI but look at the MORON's contradiction in a previous post: "Doesn't he claim he is from India ? ...for someone who does not want to admit he Nepali.. I don't see the point honoring him." hahahahaa This Fuggin Kid doesn't even know what he's talking about. I haven't seen gays or trannies as confused as Toilet Coffee is. This kid has gotta be Uber gay, the crem de la crem of dimwits we have here at Sajha!! hahahahahhahaha

BTW, Tenzing Kothi (his residence) and HMI (Himalyan Mountaineering Institute) are at the opposite end of Darjeeling town. Shit-Breath Coffee drinker dude's acting like he knows what he's talking about (you just read about things and act like you've been there, done that, Mr. Only Book Knowledge sans Street Smarts). hahah Shit Breath reads about people and posts something about them as though he knew them personally. hahaha Let yo first hand experience speak out, dimwit!! For all who went to SP, they're laughing at yo silly azz as they know that Mr.Norgay's daughter was my local guardian during my days there!! Now, get a life, ding-dong!! hahahahahahahahha

hmmm.. HMI when did HMI come to this converstation:P
i have been to HMI..was fun and painful anyways.

Dude, Fact of the matter is You call him Nepali if he calls him Indian .Both of you guys are right. There is nothing to argue. He is Nepali and Indian.Both. He is Artist as i said doesn't even matter he is from Timbaktu. He still would be loved and appreciated for his talent.

It is nature of human being to relate somebody or somethings ,so dear .Some people don't always relate. Some people are more happy relating themselves. If you cannot relate doesn't mean you don't like them.

For now let us consider Udit, Japanese.:):P i am sure,ART lovers won't have problem.

hahahahah Japan, nice one!!!

FYI, my earlier post was meant mainly for BathroomCoffee. HMI was brought into the topic by the Shit-Breath TolietCoffee in one of his earlier posts. The guy is psychotic from drinking too many of that methane filled dookie coffee to say the least (tyas mathi bowla jujur le tokya jasto chha tyo mujilai)! hahah

Aditya Narayan reunites with his first singing costar Asha Bhosle

When last week 19-year old Aditya Narayan finally stood on stage to host Zee's music-talent show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, it was a moment of huge reckoning for him. The inimitable Asha Bhosle was watching him closely.

Says Aditya, "I'm 19, and I agree I'm from a musical family. Also, I've had considerable experience on stage with my father. But to have stalwarts like Ghulam Ali and Asha Bhosle watching me as I got a hang of my first full-fledged job as an anchor was an unsettling experience."

"Ashaji and I go back a long way," chuckles the affable Aditya. "I've been lucky enough to sing with her for A. R. Rahman in Rangeela and Taal as a child. Tell me, which kid has had this privilege. And now there she was in person smiling and observing me carefully."

Ashaji found Aditya cute. That made the debutant anchor's day and year. "When I had sung with Ashaji I was too young to know what it meant. But now, to have occupied the same space as her and to have her encourage me so warmly I couldn't have hoped for a more auspicious start to my career as an anchor."

To make Aditya even more nervous there was his father dropping in unannounced to check out how sunny-boy was doing. "If Papa had told me he was coming I'd have asked him not to. I knew I'd feel so self conscious in front of him! So he quietly finished recording his TV show Indian Idol and dropped in on our Sa Re Ga Ma Pa set to watch me from a hidden corner."

Aditya feels blessed. "Ghulam Ali Saab, Ashaji and my father (Udit Narayan), it was as though the heavens were blessing me. Yeah, I think I'll do okay as an anchor."
