Bijaya Kumar is someone I like. But then like all men, he also has a side that I really dislike. To have a glimpse of Bijaya Kumar's pathetic side, it is enough to read the following sentences in the following article:

Ah, it is about him. It is often about him. What is the relationship between Kishun Jee and " प्रदीप गिरिजीसँग मैले यसै विषयमा, बितेका वर्षमा घन्टौं कुराकानी गरेको छु ।" Who cares what he talks about Pradip Giriji? Bijaya Kumar has to insert himself.

Here is a classic Bijaya Kumar:

"परम्परागत संसदीय प्रणालीका गुणदोषका विषयमा मलाई कसैको उपदेश आवश्यक छैन । राजनीतिशास्त्रका विख्यात प्राध्यापक स्वर्गीय लियो रोजको विद्यार्थी हुँ म ।"
Nobody should write something like that. Btw, does he have a degree in political science? Or was he a short term visitor? Just because he was a student of a dead professor, he should not say something like "I know everything and no one can teach me anything". This statement is very sickening.

Since you are a trainee, who just started a job at your bank, I don't believe you can 'confidently see' everything. You just have heard people talking about it. Let's not act smart yet, shall we?

In the long term, land price will probably rise, as it is a scarce resource. But we are talking about short term. If I buy a land in Khumaltar for 8 lakh per ana, I know it will eventually reach 10 lakh per ana. What I don't know what that eventual means. Suppose it goes down to 7 lakh next year, and 6 lakh per ana next year and 5 lakh per ana next year. Then it again begins to climb. This happens all the time with stocks and everything else. So, every sane financial expert you talk to will advise to hold until you see the sign of rebound and surge in a market that is experiencing fall. That's why the famous "don't catch the falling knife" proverb.

How many jaggaa dalals have been able to sell their land/house? Not many. We know many are still holding. So, the best strategy is to put your money in the bank, wait until it shows rebounce. Until then, wait, wait, put pressure on jagga dalas. Remember, these jagga dalas have bought most of these lands probably at  2 lakh per ana (the price three years ago) so they can really wait. Meanwhile, put money in the bank and enjoy the interest! That's what I am doing. To me, 12% interest is always good enough and I don't want to screw that by being too greedy and speculating in land market that is falling and seeing no sign of recovering in short term.

 The ones who're holding onto their propery are the ones who need not sell their properties. 

Houses/lands are long-term assets and in Nepal's case, they're as vital as Gold.

One of my Kakas ( a filthy rich business man - all white money ) has 7 houses and more than 30 ropanis of Land. He's the type of a person who's not at all bothered to sell his property as he doesn't need to worry about paying the itnerest that've risen to about 16 percent ( from 7-8 percent a year ago ). 

I live here, and I work here.  Fyi, my mama is one of the key figures of Nabil Bank itself ( which is why I was "pushed" into working here by my mom ), so you really think I don't have an access to information, policies etc?

And, I don't think you addressed my question yet. You just gave immaterial examples. Why should someone buy in this falling market?

 You don't have an access because you don't work there and you can't even relate to things because you live in the States. 

If you can afford to cough up some dough and buy in a falling market, knowing it will eventually go up, you're bound to make shitloads of money 5 years from now, compared to depositing it at a Bank. 

Since you're not the one who's either gonna deposit money or are looking to purchase anything, I don't see any point of continuing this discussion anymore.

No doubt these suckers are simply taking undue advantage of KPB. The time when Tilak Rawal entered APROSC, Hem Bahadur Malla was the agriculture minister and Rawal was a sick follower of slick panches. APROSC was a center for Agricultural scientists not useless economists like Rawal but the panchyati board members were always giving priority to the economist even for writing books on agriculture, what a shame. If anyone is not convinced, better review literatures on it in NARC (Nepal agriculture research center) as APROSC is now acquired by NARC. Today some people “just some people” with biased vision find Thakur Nath Pant, Devendra Raj Pandey as an ideal economist but that is just their feeble perception and Rawal is one of them.

 

During panchayet system, Rawal was a panche and in Kangresi time, he became a kangres. During his tenure at NRB as a GOBER (गोबर) ner, NRB was not a Rastra Bank, it was a Dhurta Rastra (धुर्त राष्ट्र )   Bank with blindfolded eyes. Only good thing he did was for the people of Dhangadi where he hails from. Those who are in banking sector can ask every Rawals and Dhangadi people how they got job at bank, the answer will be simple as job was bestowed upon to them by their GOBER ner saap.

 The very fact that so many people are commenting on  Bijay Kumar and his writing proves that people read him widely   . He has been at the top of Nepalese journalism for decades so it should be no surpise that he has close personal experiences with politicians and  he shares it with us. What is wrong with that.?
Do not forget that he made a very popular  series 'mero jindagi mero biswas, of unsung heroes of Nepal. 
Sadly, the best some people can do in life  with their petty little brain  is criticise others who are successful. Let them bark because that is what is their specialty. Otherwise there is a simple solution Do not read him if you do not like him.
National newspapers in Nepal have published so many of his artlcles as front page news. Perhaps that says someting.
