It's the college that is responsible to issue another I-20. Best thing to do is to call the International student office and explain them the situation. They would hopefully send you that material as soon as possible, only if they are cooperative enough. This depends from university to university. You have not explained the situation properly. Has she already got her visa? or is she still awaiting for her interview. Please be more specific with your question. Anyway, I wish her luck.

. I had the same problem.. I did not even realise until I was in -Seattle airport. They put me in investigation room 5 hours. Luckily they could communicate with US Embassy in Kathmandu and Nepalese Embassy in DC . Get a another I-20 before you leave.... or get a document from US Embassy Kathmandu that the problem is known and I-20 will be corrected in next visa extension US..

YekloYatri, No she hasnot applied yet for the interview. Will there be any problem in the interview if they find that mistake in her I20. What will be the best option in this case?

The best thing that you can do is get a new I-20. when your friend know there is some thing wrong with her I-20 she will loose confidence in her interview.

Get new I-20. You can call to his/her college and pay $50.0 so that they will send another I20 via fedex. Saan Dai

I guess wrong date of birth is worse than partially wrong name. In my case they did not issue visa and told me they can not issue visa untill I get the I-20 with correct name .Better get correct I -20 before applying visa.I guess best way is to call them and pay 50 dollars for fedex to get I -20 on time.

ChemicalX, It's good news that she has spotted out the error before the interview. Do like these people state above. Pay extra and get it as soon as possible. Make sure you get that corrected copy of your I-20 before the interview. Incase(I hope this dosent happen!) If you dont get the I-20 and you have an interview. Then Let the person who takes the interview know that there is an error and it is going to be corrected and this has been brought to the university attention. If they delay sending your I-20 then ask the school international student advisor to write an email explaning the case to the U.S Embassy. Print that paper and present during the interview. I hope she would not have to deal with all these hassle. But why not prepare for the worst? Anyway, My best wishes. Good luck.
