hello and hi. I just got my american citizen like 6 months ago. I am planning to go back and get married with my girl friend. I am not sure should i apply her for fiancee visa or for marriage visa. I am still not sure which one will bring her faster. Can i start the process as soon as i get in nepal or do i have to come back to start the process. Please, anybody with some better knowledge, can you shed some light on this. Thank you

Good luck to PM,
I really dont know why people have to comment so negatively on every issue. He has just asked for your opinion (if only you have gone through same situation/ or u know some ideas) but there are so mean comments...I clearly got what he means to say and I dont find any difficulty understanding his English. I think he has not asked whether you have brought your GF or not, he was only intereted if you can share your experience. Instead of labeling as DV issue (so what's wrong being Lucky chap to get lottery?) why dont u just help him with your idea (as u have alreayd undergone same process/ GF issue)..
And ya quesstion for question--------do u divorce American wife? Common dudes, just dont Guess and shoot here (esp on personal issues like this) and someone is asking how he got citizenship, I think there can be many ways of it, does it really make difference...well anyway .......I dont mean to hurt anyone but .....just felt like sharing what I thought after going this thread...

Yes ice cop, i did get my citizen though my work. back in 90's you would see lot of people getting sponsored through their work. I dont mean any technical work but from any restaurants, or gas station, or any grocery store. If the owner was willing to sponsor you and if the business was going on profit then you got your green card. It was just matter of time. They would sponsor you as a skill worker in the field you work for. It did not matter what status you were in. You could be f1, or b1 or out of status. things change a lot after 9-11. I think you sill can get you green card like that but it is much tougher . Now you can get your greencard only through h1 or dv lottery or you have to marry somebody, like most of the peope have been suggesting here in sajha . back then you did not have to marry anybody to get green like we see nowadays. Good luck for anybody who has been trying to get green card. No hard feelings brohers. live your life and let other live.

Both processing time frame are almost same.Go to USCIS.com and check processing dates for both visa you gonna see it. May be 2 more months for Immigrant visa(I-130) than Fiance Visa(K1). So its better to apply for Immigrant visa. If Fiance visa gets rejected its gonna make more complicated. Do not take any chance just for 2 extra months. Check the processing dates I-129F and I-130. https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/Processtimes.jsp?SeviceCenter=VSC

Papermoon,The best way would be to bring her in a K-1 visa and get married with her here. This is the fastest process. If you sponsor her for the K-1 (filling out appropriate forms and submitting necessary documents), she will be stampped K-1 and can come here. Once she is here, she has up till60 days to get married with you (a US citizen) and then you can file for her Green Card. The entireprocess is simple and less time consuming. If you go to Nepal, get married, and then sponsor her, it will take at least 10 months for her to come to the US--paperwork processing and all the formalities. I just had one of me frens bring his wifehere. It took him 10 months (the usual time period) to get his wife here. So, I would suggest to try to get her here on a K-1. I am not sure, but have heard that the requirementof K visa states, you do not even have to have been engaged to the person you're sponsoring.LIke I said, I am not sure abt this as I have not been thru it recently, so, check it out, and alsothe most important thing: consult an immigration attorney on this---am sure you'll get a precise and an accurate assesement.Good Luck Dude!
