Hi all, I hope to get some feedback and suggestion on nice living area near San Jose Silicon Valley. At the moment I am looking for 1 bedroom apt. I would like to be in area known relatively for safety and good high schools (as generally good high schools are related to the good area in the town). I came up googling with some names like Campbell, and Willow Glen. Any help and suggestions are really appreciated. Thanks Krishna

San Jose has good transport for a suburb. Campbell is way south. Let me ask yo u this first; Do you have a job or you are just moving? Second do you have a car?
The best schools are in Cupertino/ Mountain View area. Also, if you don't have a car then buses 22 /522-rapid runs all day (about 20 hours everyday at 15-20 mins intervals) and crosses downtown (this way you have San Jose North covered -in a way).

MN_Nepali, Thanks for the reply. I am moving because of my job, so yes I have a job ~3 miles from San Jose airport tin the Silicon valley, and yes I will have a car. So transport will be a secondary problem for me if I can find a good place to live. Thanks

In that case your work is next to downtown and could live either in Sunnyvale (Lots of Nepali ppl- I hear), Cupertino/ Mountain View (best schools in all of Cali.., rich people so a little expensive- and 20 mins commute for you ). Milpitas, lots of Chinese (schools are fine). Avoid East Palo Alto.

I would also consider Santa Clara, it's close to San Jose and has a college feel. Fairly cheap too as well as safe. Good Luck!

I moved to Sunnyvale couple months ago. There are lots of Inidan, Chinese and Mexican here. Its quite safe and affordable too. Bus service is good but it also depends where you stay. AS MN_Nepali said there are lots of nepalese in Sunnyvale but i have never seen/met anyone so far. Is there a Community/Org of nepalese here.

I have seen a few, but have avoided mostly. Was there in some party on the Carrabin drive a couple of years ago. After that they stopped advertising. To be frank they weren’t my type either. All couples with kids, and with different priorities.

Hi all, Thanks for the suggestions. I am inclining towards Cupertino/ Mountain View or Campbell area. During my next visit in few weeks I will visit those areas and see how they feel.
I know traffic-wise it may the wrong choice, as I have to be in-flow with traffic during work hours, and I don't know how bad it is to reach Si valley from those areas.
Regarding Nepalese community, I guess you can find some in all the areas, but if needed, interaction can happen any way. In many occasions, I have had bad experiences with fellow Nepalese (unless I know them before hand). Either they don't give a damn about who the heck you are (just try to ignore you as soon as they know you are a Nepali) or they want to exploit you for their own benefit. Of course there are exceptions to this as many helpful hands are out there.
Thanks
