Could one use a US$ debit card to withdraw cash from an ATM or buy product or services in Nepal?  How about the a credit card? Could it also be used?  Thanks.

any visa or master card u got here (no matter debit or credit)can be used world wide which accept visa and master cards.and yes, u can use them in nepal too. nepal pani yehi world mai chha ni bro

..and yeh some banks do charge u for foreign uses..not much abt $2.00 fee

one of my relatives tried to use a debit card, which has a mastercard logo but he said it did not work in kathmandu.  i was surprised to hear that too.  if possible can you verify with some one in nepal who have used?

well, thats one thing atlanta dude. I remember using master card (debit)in Kathmandu in 2006.It worked for first few times..but later they freeze it and did not work.When i came back and called the bank, i was told they locked my card coz' it was used in foreign locations..what can i say..card security.

well dude, its better to inform your card issuer that u will be using the card outside u.s., if u are planning to use a lot of it in nepal.

that's a good point.  check with the bank.  but still it is taking a chance.  i think there is a better luck with american express card.  maybe things have changed between now and then.

Visa or master card work in most of banks at ktm.

It works back home and I have tried both debit and credit cards........Debit card fees is around 300 rupees and  for credit card, they charge you few extra percent of your transactions.....gud luck!
