I'm planning to learn data modeling and design the database using SQL 2005. I've only basic knowledge like  ER diagrams, entity relationships etc. I would appreciate any guidance like information on where to start with or links for ebooks or tutorials on tools like ERwin etc.

To start with, I think ...http://www.learndatamodeling.com/   will be helpful for the data modeling and other general concepts.  For SQL server 2005 resources, you can follow the following links-  http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms130214(SQL.90).aspx.

There are lot of  other resources on the net. The only thing I could suggest is- don't go for many resources in the beginning, as the chances are very high that you could get confused. Just follow one  or two resources  in the beginning.

Thanks for your support. I  think at least I have something to move forward with.

Balbahadur- Just to let you know its about a 6 plus months long project in a healthcare sector.  I don't think practically its feasible to work together. However, I will definitely let you know as I move forward.
