Hi All, Quick Question - I have heard one's credit history cleans itself every 7 years? Is it true?

I think so, you should google it, there is statute of limitations for debts collections which varies according to States. After the limitations time expire, they can't sue you for the money. I think it will erase itself after seven years except in the bankruptcy case. http://credit.about.com/od/debtcollection/a/soflimitations.htm

If u have an account as old as 8 years, then you can request the credit agency to clear it....manytimes they don't clean it automatically. I thought the theshold was 5 years, but it could be 7.
