I have been filling tax since 20012. I used to get some money return based on my tuition fee. but this time, I got graduated and doing free internship in 2015. That means technically, no income. no education expenses. So, should I file tax this year because I don't know how to get some money back? Please let me know your thoughts.............

Simple mate. If you have gotten the 1098T form or check if you have 1098T inquiring your school. If you have 1098 T that shows your tuition expenses then apply. If you don't have don't file. Otherwise IRS gouna getcha..

If you are stating for long term , it does not hurt to file, if you have 1098 T you may get some refund.

If you are not busy, get a free consultation from HR block with all the documents that you have received so far ( as if you were going to file the Tax). Later, You can do the same online or continue with the same representative. You can try others too (turbotax.com etc) Thank me later !!

@stateofnepal I didn't pay any tuition fee in 2015 and that whole year i was interning for free. I think I can still file but I won't get any refund. Therefore, I thought I should ask other people if there might be something I can do......

@no_more_crush I thank you now..... I used turbo tax and since I don't have any pay check and tuition fee in 2015, it showed me 0 dollars refund. So I am thinking should I file or not cause I am not getting any money refund anyway......

Most tax software for low income or no income will provide free filing. My coworker told me that she has been filing free from Turbo tax.It is the most expensive tax software so far I have tried, last year it asked me 29.99 for state.

If you have no income, you typically aren't required to file a tax return. But many people choose to do so anyway. You may need to file a return to qualify for federal financial aid or other government programs. If you are required to submit your tax transcript for barious reason like immigration sponsorship, it will be easier to provide the one with zero income. Otherwise you will have to prove that you were not required to file for that year and provide supporting documents. Just use form 1040 EZ to file and use taxhawk.com. It will be free for the Fed.
