Hey peepz,
Seriously, what type of people can afford to send their kids to Lincoln School in kathmandu. For high school, they charge a whopping US$15,900 a year. That is more than what I pay for college in NY.

There is no point in making second guess.

Even those who are alcohol distributors make money that is more than a crore per year. There are lots of industrialists and even NGO wallas whose firm pays for the tuition of the kids. Then there are foreigners.

Just because we can't make money or we don't know how to run a good business doesn't mean others can't do. We are a country of 30 million people, and I know lots of people who have made tons of money in Nepal.

So, let's stop wondering.

the students are children of parents who smuggle goods out of country avoiding custom duties, sell drugs and own hotels/restaurants, spoilt children of ex-gurkha lahures

One of my relatives went to Lincoln. His dad is a well known businessman ( making well over 10 crore/year in profit ). He's the type of the person who can well afford to send his son/daughter to Lincoln.

There are tons of Nepalese working for various NGOs and INGOs who get their tuition reimbursed by the companies. They're more than willing to send their kids to Lincoln just for the heck of it.

I believe even their Bus fees is around 300-400 bucks per month.

Summer5.....what does your dad do to send you to study a college in New York??? Please reply. That will guide us to understand or research kind of occupations people follow to send their kids to Lincoln school. I hope you will not take the query with any negativity. Waiting for your response.

Why are we talking just about Lincoln?

There are so many Mini (?) Lincolns in Kathmandu where a normal government officer, police officer,  professor, teacher, engineer or ...Neta's salary is not enough to send their kid. Then where they get the money from? The answer is simple-

We should look the following places-

The conditions of roads, toilets in hospitals and offices, the security of citizens, registration /licence divisions for land and vehicles, the manpower agencies (the pain our fellow citizens are having in foreign countries for fraud cases done by own people in home).... there is long list, and we every body know it.

The question we should ask ourselves is-

Are any of our family members working in these places? Are we getting the benefits out of destruction of the nation?

Look guys, you all should stop being jealous of rich people.

Forget about industrialists or other big guys, even a restaurant owner (famous Taasko hotel) in Narayanghat makes 5 lakh per month. If I own a good restaurant that is consistently yielding me such an income, I wouldn't hesitate to send my son to a top school.

The guy who started this thread probably doesn't know anyone who goes to Lincoln. And yet he has already started out bashing them for being crook. This kind of hatred is bad for our country.

Moreover, Sirjana, the responsibility of making road is not with an individual. If I am in Nepal, work hard, make money and try to send my son to the best school possible, no one has the right to tell me tha I should spend my  money in making road.

We shouldn't put a lot of cost to be  a successful person in Nepal.

If they are breaking rule, looting country and so on, we should be tough. But if someone is making tons of money, contributing to our country's economy, employing people, then let his sons/daughters study in the best of the schools. Let people enjoy their success in Nepal without having to answer lots of questions. So let's celebrate success of our fellow Nepalese. Jealousy, hatred, envy, are bad things, they are not going to lead us anywhere.

Pire,
Chor ko khutta kat vanda Khutta Uchale jasto vaena ra yo ta?

Nepal is one of the most corrupted country in the world and one way of defining the corruption is
taking "public toilet safa garna chhutyaeko paisa  nagarpalika ko karmacharile afno ghara rangauna kharchha garnu" pani ho.
I would not be jealous if a hard working farmer or a hardworking restaurant owner (as you said) or an industrialist making money by doing productive and constructive work. I am just talking about those who are enjoying personnel life by the destruction the nation (of course people).
Personally, neither I am hating anybody nor being jealous.

Other thing-
Tell me who should be tough against who?

Yes;
People in Nepal got more disposable income than any body residing abroad maintaining high middle or higher class. We we care about their source of income? Very few and who ever does that will be targeted by many who are family of corrupt govern employees or hold position in any organization or political parties. I have seen people working for Maoist had purchased land in Kathmandu and Itahari and many new owner or buyer in suburb area are falls in the same category not all but most of them. How they got money even they do not have means of leaving but they do have cash in hand.
Right now peoples in Nepal make more money and has saving than people fled to abroad and think they will be doing better. It is not the same story as people goes to Japan in past either.  Evan a footpath tea seller  makes 40-50 thousand a month.
But we are talking about those people who think they got the government job is their luck and what ever they make out of their salary is their KARMA, and we general people are paying and supporting them and we are forced to do that. They have joined with corrupted people and do anything and we are paying for it.
So, Pire which side you are in? I am positive to have school like that more so the stinking wealthy people can keep their children home and our money does not go to India. I wanted more.
But there is an unhealthy trend going on. Even you can not afford you wanted to send the children so called better school and they are suffering as well participating in illegal Karma.

Srijana,

I don't know what you are talking about. I don't send my kid to Lincoln. kasari chor ko khutta tan bhayo?

You can't say 'look this man must be corrupt because he sends the kid to an expensive school' or 'he has a Mercedes'.

If you are talking about jagire karmachari sending his son to Lincoln, then it is fishy. But no one has so far supplied any information about that.

When hotels are fully occupied, the hotel owners can make lots of money. The housing companies were making tons of money. The restaurant owners, the import export walaas, the industrialists, the landed class, they all can make tons of money. And every father has the right to provide the best education to his kids.

So, let's celebrate success of people. We must respect successful people, not unnecessarily doubt them. Are they paying taxes? Are they smugglers? Well, these are the questions anyone can ask, but to assume they must be so is a dangerously jealous thing. If we can't withstand other people's success, then there is something wrong with us.

That's around Rs. 11-12 lakh, which is seriously not that much. Average salary for good established doctors tends to be 4-5 lakhs. The average joes can't afford Lincoln School, but it is not for the average joes. I agree with @Land of Gorkhalis---this school was made for the children of the folks that work in the embassy. When it comes to someone else sending their kids to Lincoln, who cares?

पैसा छ भने जे गर, हामीलाई के को टाउको दुखने?

If you can afford an expensive "good" school, then send your kids there.

Doctor Bee,

You mean 11-12 lakh/yr, just for school, for 1 kid not that much for Nepali parent or a Foreigner?
