According to me, i dont think so it is bad to break your virginity before marriage. I was a virgin when i got married and my spouse was not. Before marriage, i always wished for a virgin mate cause i was virgin too but i found out that my spouse was not a virgin later after the marriage so i kinda felt bad about it!!

I think if a girl is a virgin she shud go for a virgin guy and vice-a-versa..But it really depends on the person.

Origion of Virginity:

As I mentioned we are directly or indirectly longing for the pleasure. Out of the five sensual pleasures, the richest one is the pleasure which comes form the touch of a body to body ie sex. Religiously, we can see none of the sensual pleasures are appreciated, however, sex is highly disregarded amongst.

For example: Monks and Yogis are not allowed to sing songs and listen to music -restrain of ear sense. They are not allowed to watch any means of intertainment - restrain of eye sense. They are not allowed to use any type of perfume - restain of nose sense. They should eat whatever they are given in the begging bowl - restain of nose sense.

Similarly, they shouldn't be involved in any type of sexual activities - restrain of body sense.

The plesures given by the first four senses are too weak compare to the pleasure given by the fifth, ie sex. This might be the reason why more importance is given to refrain from the sex.

Teaching of Yogies was embraced by the householders. However, it was not possible to follow scrupulously as that of Monks, they tried to follow as much as they can. To live a life of celebacy after marriage was not practicle, so they decided to have celibacy before marriage. This might have been the beginning of the concept of virginity ie not to have sex before marriage.

In Hindu/Baudha tradition, in Indian subcontinent, it is found that more importance was given to man to have celibacy than woman.They said बह्मचार्य , which was mostly followed by man. However, in Western wold, Judaic (Jews, Muslim, Christian) tradition, emphasis was given to woman then man, to have celibacy.

Now some questions have arised:

Why to refrain from the pleasure?
Why to follow these Yogies?
What these Yogies have to offer us?
What are the disadvantages of sensual pleasures?

I wonder why people make such a big deal about virginity. If you kiss someone before marriage that is ok, but if you have sex that is big issue. Come on... in both the case you are sharing your feelings and touching each other so whats the big deal.... kissing also has some sensation and you are putting you tounge in some body else mouth... same with sex it has some sensation feeling you are putting your private organ in somebody else organ so whats the big deal. for me both looks same... if you want to be virgin till marriage then do not love or kiss anyone too... if kiss is ok then oral sex is ok and sex is ok.

I have very little knowledge about Judaic religions. However, I will be giving some exmples regarding the state of Sensual pleasure in Hindu and Buddhist practices.

Geeta is considered to be the core of Hindu practices.
In Sanskrit, Sense organs are called इन्द्रिय।

Geeta condemns the sensual pleasures like this:

इन्द्रियाणि प्रमाथिनि हरन्ति प्रसभं मन। -गीता

यि इन्द्रियहरु उध्योगरत बुद्दिमानहरुको मनपनि बलत्कार गर्न सक्षम हुन्छन।
The sense organs are capable to destroy even the mind of wise and diligent.

इन्द्रियाणां हि चरतं यन्मनोनु बिधियते!
तदश्य हरति प्रज्ञं, वायुर्नावमिवाम्भसि।। -गीता

तुफानले डुङगाको जुन हालत गर्छ, कुनै एउटामात्र इन्द्रियले खुला छुट पाएमा ज्ञानको त्यहि हालत गरिदिन्छ।
As the hurricane destroys a boat, even so, a unguarded sense organ destroy the wisdom.

This verse of Geeta encourage to restrain the sense organs.

यदा संहरते चायं कुर्मोङगानिव शर्बश।
इन्द्रियाणिन्द्रियाथेभ्य, तस्य प्रज्ञा प्रतिष्ठिता।।- गीता

जसरी कछुआले आफ्नो सरिरका सारा अङगहरुलाई आफ्नो कबच भित्र लुकाएर सुरक्षित गर्छ, त्यसरी ज्ञानीले आफ्ना इन्द्रियहरुलाई सुरक्षित राख्छन।
As the tortoise keep its body safe inside the shell, even so, a wise keeps his sense organs safe and protected.

What does Buddha say about the sensual pleasure?

काम सुखं, मिडह सुखं, पुथुजन सुखं, अनरिय सुखं, न आसेबितब्बं, न भावि तब्बं, न बहुलिका तब्बं, भायी तब्बं यतस्स सुखस्स च बदामी। - भगवान बुद्द

Sensual pleasure is a gross pleasure; it is only for dumb; it is only for fools. Never enjoy it, never practice it, and never try to increase it. Always be fearful of it.

In praise of restraining the sense organs:
चक्खुना संवरो साधु, साधु सोतेना सम्बरो।
घानेना संबरो साधु, साधु जिब्बाया सम्बरो।।
It is good to restrain eyes; it is good to restrain ears.
It is good to restrain nose; it is good to restrain tong.

कायना सम्बरो साधु, साधु बाचाय सम्बरो।
मनसा सम्बरो साधु, साधु सब्बत्थ सम्बरो।।
It is good to restrain body; it is good to restrain speech.
It is good to restrain mind; restrain of all of these is excellent.

This is the teaching of Buddha. This is the teaching of Yogis. This is the core of Dharma. Refrain from rejoicing sensual pleasures is the real teaching of enlightened one.

I dont see how this can be true...if u guys chek back into historical annuls, u will find that buddha had a wife and she also gave birth to a son..so i dont think buddha died a virgin to be going around preaching in favor of celibacy. I agree with you. Kissing, oral sex, self sex, unnatural sex, all are sex. All of them produce same type of pleasent sensations. If the story of those catholic girls is true, they are not virgin. Virginity is not important, important is to refrain from sexual misconduct. People always try to cheat themselves. They try to manipulate the reality in their favor. This is the weakest point. How people do that I will illustrate through an example.

Here is a very old story, you will enjoy it.

Donation is excellent. In our tradition and most of the traditions of the world, donation is considered one of the most pious acts.

Long long ago, a group of Indian merchents were returning to their home from Lanka via boat with commodities. They came across a Hurricane and scared to death. They started to make promises to their deities, if they got saved they would do some wholesome things.

One of them had a unique house in the city, which was most beautiful, and very expensive. He spoke out " Deities if I get saved form this hurricane, I will sell my beautiful house and donate all the money, I sware." To the surprise of all of them, the hurricane stopped and they arrived home safely.

When they arrived home, they started to fulfill their promisses. Everybody were looking at him, whether he would be able to donate his beautiful house. He had biggest attachement to his house/wealth, however, he had to fulfill his promise as well. What he did was he decleared that anybody whoever would boy his house must buy a cat. He put the price of the house as one gold coin where as that of the cat as one Lakh gold coins. The house worthed one Lakh one god coins and somebody bought it. This guy donated one gold coin which was the price of the house, and kept one Lakh god coin which was the price of the cat.

Funny isn't it. He kept his words through a trick without losing anything. It doesn't matter what he did. However, his volition matters. It matters what the state of his mind was.

In our world it is considered on of the wisest trick, however, the spritual world is different. In spritual world only state of the mind counts, nothing else. State of his mind was full of greed. Greed is negativity of mind which makes people suffering.

Donation is done to overcome the greed. To make mind generous. Doesn't matter how much you donate. It matters what was the state of your mind while donating.

Similerly, people do tricks in all other fields. As you said about those catholic girls, they are fooling themselves.

I am sorry, I must bring the sprituality in this topic because virginity was origionated from sprituality and it is still related to it.
