Please give him a break guys, especially when he did get his point across.
It is a humble request, not everyone has flawless writing skills like you guys do. I am sure there are hundreds of other threads you guys could use your wisecracks in.

1. Weak humor it was, nobody laughed; but nonetheless it was humor. Nothing else. No name calling, no racist rants, no finger pointing...just a simple piece of humor. When will we start taking things lightly?
2. Our response keeps the thread alive. I have seen posts after posts of such request and have yet to see anybody come up and offer the help. Most of the time it is because post readers aren't travelling on that date. By exposing his thread to more readers, maybe somebody who is travelling that day might see it.

1. I concur about keeping the thread alive. If that was the sole intent, I have nothing else to say, however, a good samaritans and ethical human beings that we are, 'we' could come up with suggestions, which we didn't.
2. I also believe that a thread where an initiator seeks advice regarding constipation warrants humors and wise cracks. But I ask myself if this one did, especially when the individual is in dire need of someone who'd guide his parents to dallas.
3. Speaking of finger pointing and racism and bigotry and sexism and prejudice and conceit in a particular thread - we have done it all, but did we do it to someone who innocuously posts a thread seeking sincere help? I do not think so, at least I didn't.

Generally, I'd just brush these kinds of things off-they aren't worth the time and effort; but since it's from one of my fav. writers, I have to address it.
1. No, the sole intent of our posts wasn't to keep the thread alive. Point was that this benefit was being produced with our response, and if you ask me the cumulative benefit (of reviving the thread) is way higher than a small price to pay for humor in this case. Wouldn't you agree?
2. Of all the people, I would expect you to be the last person to define humor or any subject matter in a narrow wall of rules. From your point of view, all the stand-ups and comedians should only ridicule about constipation and fart jokes. I am not comparing what I did to a great stand-up routine, heck even I didn't laugh at what I wrote; but I wrote it as a humor piece, nothing else, and humor hates confinement.
3. Not sure what you meant by the third point. "We have done it all," Where? In this thread? Completely disagree; show me racism, sexism or bigotry in this thread. And if you are talking about other threads, then that wasn't the point is it?
Let me ask you honestly, are you one of those people who get offended when a co-worker or a friend makes funny comment on your expense? Would you have felt offended if you were asking about travel help for you folks and a co-worker make the same exact comment we did on this thread? If you find it offensive then I have nothing to say; we just are made from different clay my friend.
While we are discussing this, has anybody noticed the OP's question is still not being answered? Why are we then discussing everything else?

I guess my frustration is only about our inability to discern the threads that demand serious response from the ones that do not. If he were selling a car I could care less, and maybe such light-hearted humor based on grammatical error could be laughed upon or overlooked. And I respect the root cause behind your humor but I wonder if the original poster is perceptive enough to figure it out.
Again, as I say this I have nothing against such humors; actually I have nothing against any kind of humor. My only point is, maybe it was a wrong thread and the quipping reply was from a person who is far too classy to post something trivial. And the reason I spoke about sexism, and racism and prejudice is because there have been replies like those, unlike yours, where we fervidly expressed our ideas in the most combative fashion to get our point across, or for the sake of humor for that reason. I cannot say of you, but I could speak about myself for which I am not proud about. However, during those times such scathing words were perhaps obligatory.
Now the part about me being up in the arms about criticism and humor, you have known whatever little history I have here based on which I'd let you decide.
Cheer up! It is Friday and we both seem to have lots of time in our hands.

How to walk from Kathmandu to Dallas:
1. Walk from Kathmandu to Russia towards Bering Strait.
2. Swim across the Bering Strait to Alaska. You can take a break at Diomede Islands.
3. Walk from Alaska to Dallas.
Do not forget to take a backpack full of Red Bulls.

You got it Yuvaraj; I say two Yuenglings. Better yet, if Behoove has another story ready, I don't mind a Rocky-Patel with Single Malt.
