Hi fellow sajha users! I am currently employed under f-1 opt. I am hoping to apply for 24-months opt stem extension. Apparently one of the requirements is that I must not have exceeded 90 days of unemployment during my opt period. I have 112 days gap between my graduation and start of job. Is this going to be a problem when i file for opt extension; also is there a way to avoid it? Please help, I'm almost freaking out!

At the time of extension, request your employer to write a letter that your employment period to the company where you are working now was before 90 days of your opt start. I think, if you request your employer he/she will understand this situation. just a suggestion...

For OPT extenstion your school has to issue you a new I20, As long as they do create it and you are a everified worker you will be allright. fyi all you had to do during the unemployment was that send an email to your dso saying you are working in a company of your feild, OPT does not require payments, it can be a internship.
