hello all, I recently got married and had my wife apply for a H4 dependent visa. The embassy in kathmandu took all the documents and her passport and asked her few marrige questions and then told her that they needed to check something and call her. But it has been more than 2 weeks and she has not received a call. I am little worried even though i had all the documents. Has anyone gone thru the same situation? Thanks

btw dariwal, it might be better if you inquired about the status of the visa. I dont think it would hurt if you asked them about it, better it, it might remind them just incase they have forgotten.

dariwal, i assume that you mean the USA embassy. i suggest you try nepalikochoro's suggestion and inquire once again with the appropriate embassy staff. the worst they can say is "no." well, actually, i imagine they could say much worse things, but i digress. if the straightforward approach fails, and, assuming that you lack personal contacts at the embassy, you might try having one of your cuire amrikan friends inquire on your wife's behalf. sadly, this false appeal to "authority" often works in such situations. in fact, i always take the cuire i know best to the embassy, and it has always been smooth sailing. best of luck to you and your wife.

How long did they tell ur wife that they were gonna take? These things can take from 3 weeks to 3 months normally; if they are doing ur background check for her visa. It really depends on what kind of check they are doing.

hey guys, I appreciate your time. I called the embassy last night and they told me that they are still doing some administrative works and wil give a call to my wife with the results. I hope it doesnot take 3 months like you said stiffler. Did you say that from an experience or what? thanks
