http://www.kantipuronline.com/kolnews.php?&nid=46923 Somebody had posted some time ago about future leadership of Nepal. I think this guy has possibility. I have never met him; only followed through news and his few articles. I think he is honest, to- the- point and ideologically constant. This is my personal view.

son of nepal, I only have to say that one can't be a good leader if he can't restrain himself and thats exactly Mr. Gagan Thapa's Problem is. However, he is indeed, a natural talker just like any other old leaders and we all know how those leaders turn out to be... only talk.. that's it.

I also see him as a potential democratic leader for our country. Have a appreciative thinking guys, not all leaders become corrupt. He has a consistent policy towards monarchy. he all the time termed the monarcy as major obstacle for full democracy in nepal. Nepali Media have named him as THE FIREBRAND LEADER. and there is no doubt that he is the most infuential young leader in nepali politics. I am with GAGAN.

he looks promising young boy!!!!(NOTE: LOOK only) i had met this guy several time and even had couple of drinks together, while this guy was in TC......the reason maoist like him is, he is speaking against KG in public.... but let's think from cool mind what will happen to nepal if there isnot any Ki....who do you think will rule the country, are we sure that our leader are capable enough to rule our country and defent it from our neighbouring country with pride and dignity??? what is the alternative of Monar.....in nepal, i am not defending Monar.......neither am i in the favor of Monar... system but right now there isnot any alternative in my mind........I might be one of the STUPID person in the world but ............. So my point here is, a person like Gagan, with a good educational background, has raised the voice against Mon.....but can he give the proper alternative of Mon......if you cannot give the solution better not raise the problem...............I WANT ALL OF YOU TO THINK COOLY AND WISELY!!!!!!!! so in my judgement this Guy is nothing better than any other old politicians like Girija (who ruled country for many years and now blaming king for the present situation) or Madhav Nepal (who had raised a big voice on Madhan Bhandari?s murder , when he was Opposion Leader, but did nothing when he was in power) So, Don't be surprise when Gagan will act like royal servant when he will be in power!!!! RIGHT NOW NEPAL NEEDS AN HONEST LEADER! AND I AM SORRY I NOT THAT HONEST ONE!!!!!!!

Gagan has been showing a great potential. Personally, I had very much respect for him, but recently from his close circle of friends that I heard that he has very good relation with the Crown Prince Paras. I was devastated to hear this, let's hope he is not used by the Palace. Sometime his strong criticism against the Palace makes me suspicious, he might be using this get a cheap popularity with the help of Palace. Nothing can be guess or predict in politics, let's hope it's not true.

Turbulence, he is the most targeted by palace among young activists. He is getting arrested and tortured since last three years. Whoever saying he is in good relation with par... is out of his mind. I know potential is one thing and whether one guy can live up to his promises is another thing. Can we dismiss everyone saying "this will turn into another Girija" ? But somebody will have to come and wiill come. Gagan Thapa may or may not be that person, but at least for now he is promising.

Well Gagan Thapa certainly broke the taboo and spoke about a republic state long before the Feb 1 royal takeover , thus pushing this taboo topic toward the centre of political debate. Something the seven-party alliance [if it can be called that] doesn't find taboo anymore. Although the marginalised mainstream parties may never take any firm decision on this issue, they do talk about it or brandish it lamely as a warning at the King, stiffed by the latter's Feb 1 move. Madhav Nepal , for instance, has been doing exactly this increasingly, since the UML was kicked out of the government along with PM Deuba. Gagan Thapa has paid dearly for his bold stance already - and whether he will be able to keep up his momentum post Feb 1 is another matter. Gagan certainly is charismatic, speaks well, argues well, writes well. He doesn't have to impress me [who am I?] but he has to impress the mass, which he does reasonably well. He has already been called a man of the year [forget which year it was] by Nepal weekly. Before only the Maoists were espousing a communist republic - it was an underground agenda. Now the political parties are talking about a 'democratic republic' [I don't know if this is the right phrase] like they are wont to do without going anywhere. This may very well be Gagan's legacy - helping bring this taboo topic overground to the mainstream, thereby stretching the thematic boundaries of what can be discussed politically and publicly under 'democracy'. I wouldn't mind seeing him in the position of power someday or leading Nepal provided he doesn't sell out. But the odds are against him post Feb-1.
