An astute professional with an aptitude for awareness back in our homeland is sort of the person I am after, believe it or not. No - I am not going to meddle you with some bizarre business plan. What I do, though, would like to pass on is the work of a man and a young lady who both have been astonishingly successful in promoting the message of empowerment of young children in rural Nepal.

Let's be upfront about this. If you had some professional success and have always been thinking about opportunities to give back this might be it. Whichever you can contribute - time (to go there and volunteer) or donation - I am pretty certain the cause I am about to tell you will give enough satisfaction of its own.

Dr. Jeffrey Kottler, professor of psychology, at Cal State Fullerton is leading the cause of empowering young nepali girls through education and thereby hoping to eradicate poverty, sex trade and the likes through his grassroots organization:

Miss Maggie Doyne, a very bright young lady from New Jersey, has been helping to educate and house the orphans in Nepal for the last three years. In spite of being very young - maybe 22 - she has shown such dedication to a much needed cause has no age boundaries. She truly inspires me:

To those who are able - I am grateful - to those who are trying make ends meet and therefore not able to - there will always be next time.

Maggie, yeah i remember her. I contacted her while i was in KTM working for Tiny Hands International. Maybe i'll have a chance to meet and help her this winter. The NGO i volunteered for in Nepal is:

I heared from someone that "If you want to be happy and be fulfilled in your life, try to make others simle"

Much appreciated Poon-Hill. You are absolutely correct - there is no other satisfaction like the ones you get from vounteering.

In our community in Northern Cali- a Rai dai collects beer cans from different house holds and the money earned goes for the school in Khotang. Its a continuous things that happens and we don't even realize that it happens! Not a lot of money but still helps! May be people in other areas where you can get money back for cans, can do the same. You'd otherwise throw those cans away (if you're not in the habbit of going to the store with those cans and exchanging the same for money)..that's like money gone in waste..
