I need suggestions regarding this matter. My sister is in nepal and she completed her staff nurse course and currently working in a hospital. Now she wants to come to USA.
My question is: what is the procedures to apply for USA for staff nurse in Nepal.(i am confused if staff nurse is valid as a +2 course or not).
OR can she apply on different subject (as biology or BSN).
If she came in US then can she work as a nurse?( certainly everybody has to pass the board of nursing test.)
thanks for the suggestions

I'm a nursing major and as far as I know she will have to do the pre-requistion for whatever nursing field she wants to go into and after that she will be able to start taking the course. The course she completed in Nepal will not count here and she will have to start all over again. My mom was a nurse in Nepal for almost 15 years and she had to do the same thing, start over. I don't know if each state has their own rules but this is in Colorado. Lets hear from other people....

I hope you don't take this the wrong way I am just trying to give you good suggestion. Nursing in the US isn't as "hot" as it used to be couple of years back. As an international nursing student it's extremely hard to get paid internships. In other fields you can easily find something to maintain your OPT status but for international nursing students it is very hard. That doesn't mean that there aren't Nepalese nursing students who have been able to do pretty well for themselves. I am just saying that nursing is pretty tough for international students right now.
